Spring  Term Information

 

Dear Parents,

This term our topic will be ‘Sleeping Beauty’, we will be learning to retell the story and use the correct story language. We will also be looking at alternative versions of the text and learning new vocabulary. We will be learning how to be independent learners and using what we have learnt in lessons to develop our skills independently.

We will be planning for trips during the next term and there will be more information regarding the trips to follow. We will need parent volunteers, please let us know if you wish to support during the trip.

 

In Literacy, Language and Communication we will be learning the story of Sleeping Beauty. We will be learning how stories are structured as well as learning the correct story language to retell the story and learning new vocabulary. We will be focusing on writing tricky words we have learnt and including them in our own writing.

 

Reading-you can support your child at home by reading to them and talking about the story and asking questions about what they have read. You can also encourage your child to write a sentence about what they have read or write some of the words they have been reading.

In Mathematics this term we will focus on number and calculation skills, adding and subtracting two amounts. We will also be learning 1 more and 1 less of a given number and developing our reasoning skills. In Shape, Space and Measure we will be learning the names and properties of  3D shapes. You can support your child at home by singing number songs and counting with them.

PE will be on Tuesday every week, please ensure your child has their P.E bag in school for the week and it can be taken home to wash at the weekend. Please make sure your child has the correct P.E kit (named) and suitable footwear.

This term we will be swimming every Thursday, the children will be learning how to swim with qualified swimming instructors.

  • Reading book and record
  • Water bottle
  • And most importantly a smile!
