Hawthorn class have made a fantastic start to the new term!
We have enjoyed learning the story of Hansel and Gretel (especially the grisly details!) and I have been really impressed by the quality of writing within the class. To consolidate our knowledge of the story, we enjoyed a brisk walk around Delamere forest. The class and I really enjoyed retelling the story and recognising story-specific vocabulary within the forest.
In maths, we have worked hard to use a protractor to measure and draw angles. We have applied our knowledge of angle types to the outdoors and to practical problems. A great effort!
We have really enjoyed our topic work: we have begun our new topic: ‘a local history’, and have explored maps of the area and compared them to maps of the same area from the 1800s. While looking at our local area, we have made sketches of the immediate surroundings and we aim to transform these pictures into the style of Hundertwasser, so that our paintings impress and intrigue!
Our R.E focus is Judaism this term and the class have learnt about the origin of Judaism and the Torah. They used the Hebrew alphabet and created their own Torahs. I am really impressed!
To top it all off, Hawthorn have had a dedicated attitude towards their swimming lessons, which began this term.
A great start, well done 🙂
