Another fantastic week in Sycamore!
In English, we have been learning our newspaper report bout the big bad wolf and little red riding hood. The children have created their own short dramas to show their understanding of the report. They have also taken part in a ‘hot seating’ task whereby the children have to get into character as either the big bad wolf or red riding hood! The other children have been in role as reporters asking them lots of questions in relation to the report! They had such fun with this and it has helped them learn a lot. They have been able to apply this to their writing.
In Maths, we have moved onto our Addition and Subtraction topic this week. The children have been learning to add and subtract 1,000s, 100s, 10s and 1s. We played a game of Maths bingo to introduce the topic, we were adding 1000s, 100s, 10s and 1s to give numbers.
In topic, we have been doing some cross-curricular work with Maths, and finished our Place Value topic by looking at Roman Numerals! The children have really enjoyed this, and we used some lollypop sticks to create our Roman Numerals.
All in all, a brilliant week. Well done!
