Our transportation theme continued last week.
We used “That’s not my…” Vehicle books as our focus during story times and have been learning the words and actions to “Row, row your boat”
The children were provided with some large cardboard boxes, which through imaginative play, they turned in to cars, buses and even a music train. Some children even used their mechanical skills to fix one of the cars that had broken down!
The children also used their creativity and imagination to transform some homemade play dough into cars using various loose parts such as pebbles for wheels and card and paper for seats.
We sailed our boats through some slimy blue spaghetti and pushed sand using small world trucks and cars.
We worked together using push and go cars, taking turns to send the vehicles back and forward to one another, listening carefully and using the words ready, steady, go! Before pushing the car.
As our little Acorns are still very much enjoying this topic this week we shall continue but with a focus on construction vehicles in particular. So please be on the lookout for any building sites while you’re out with your little one over the next week, there really is nothing better than real life experiences to develop and build a children’s learning and development.
See you all next week with hard hats at the ready!
