Busy builders…

It may have been a shorter week for our Little Acorns, but that didn’t stop them from packing in plenty of play and lots of learning.

We continued to develop our knowledge of construction vehicles this week, with the children enjoying looking at some information books about vehicles you may find on a construction site, as well as various Usborne ‘That’s not my…’ books based around construction vehicles. From this the children began to develop further interest about construction sites, the tools that might be used and the building that takes place. This lead to lots of wonderful role play with the children dressing the part in hard hats and high visibility jackets to create their own building site.

We also got creative using glue sticks and paper, designing our own excavators and using ‘chocolate’ dough to make wheels for our construction vehicles. Some of the children were able to make marks through the dough by pushing and rolling our small world construction vehicles over it.

Our lucky construction vehicles also got to get nice and messy in some gloop too. The children spent lots of time using different tools to scoop up the gloop and cover the cars in it. Fantastic!

See you all next week for lots more fun!
