Christmas is on its way – we are counting down the sleeps!
The Acorn Preschool children have been very excited this week thinking about Santa, and are completely in the count down to Christmas. In fact, each day we now have to count how many sleeps left!
On Monday the Acorns were all fantastic in the Nativity – ‘Whoops-a-daisy Angel’. We were so proud of the speaking, singing and acting.
On Tuesday, we enjoyed some Christmas themed PE including Christmas tree tag, snowball fights, decorating the Christmas tree with all the PE resources! The children loved it! They also explored what happens to their bodies when they are exercising – and how to recognise if we are too hot or too cold, and what we need to do about it! This is an important part of learning within Health and Self Care.
Also this week, much to Mr Smith’s dislike, THE GLITTER IS OUT – as we have been busy making all of our Christmas craft – with cards to make and write and some lovely sparkly holly wreaths – we have hardly had a minute to sit down!
Our book of the week was ‘Father Christmas Needs a Wee’ – a funny story which helps the children with counting as Father Christmas indulges a little too much in the drinks that are left for him at houses 1 – 10! We even had a new arrival to the Acorn Preschool – Big Elf has come to join us!
We have also found time to sing some simple Christmas songs – including Christmas Pudding, When Santa got stuck up the chimney and We Wish you a Merry Christmas.
On Wednesday we found time to make yummy Christmas puddings and also enjoyed our Christmas party day with lots of games and fun, followed by some yummy party food (kindly donated by the parents –thank you).
Star of the Day this week was Levi – well done to you.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish all of our Acorn Preschool children and families a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from all the Acorn Staff.
