Christmas is on its way – we are counting down the sleeps!

The Acorn Preschool children have been very excited this week thinking about Santa, and are completely in the count down to Christmas. In fact, each day we now have to count how many sleeps left!

On Tuesday, we enjoyed some Christmas themed PE including Christmas tree tag, snowball fights, and decorating the Christmas tree with all the PE resources! The children loved it! They also explored what happens to their bodies when they are exercising – and how to recognise if we are too hot or too cold, and what we need to do about it! This is an important part of learning within Health and Elf Care (I mean Self-Care – ha ha ha!).

Also this week, much to Mr Smith’s dislike, THE GLITTER IS OUT – as we have been busy making all of our Christmas craft – with cards to make and write, baubles to make and decorate and some lovely sparkly table decorations – we have hardly had a minute to sit down! Look out for all of this next Tuesday!

Our book of the week was ‘Dear Santa’ by Rod Campbell – a lovely story which follows a repetitive pattern to look at all the ideas of presents Santa thought about sending, and the reasons why not, before he deciding to send a cat instead!

We have also found time to learn some simple Christmas songs – including Christmas pudding, When Santa got stuck up the chimney and We wish you a merry Christmas.

As it was the final Share a Story Session with parents – we made it a Christmas sing-a-long with festive treats. The children worked hard to make ‘chocolate Christmas puddings’, and a parent very kindly donated some mince pies for the adults to enjoy.
