Spring Term Information

 

Dear Parents,

 

This term our topic will be ‘The Gingerbread Man’ we will be learning to retell the story using the correct story language. This term we will be focussing on becoming independent learners.

 

We will plan for trips throughout this term and there will be more information regarding these trips nearer the time. We will need parent volunteers, please let us know if you wish to support during the trips.

 

In Literacy, Language and Communication we will be learning the story of The Gingerbread Man. We will be learning how stories are structured as well as learning the correct story language to retell the story. We will be focusing on writing independently and how to structure sentences correctly.

 

Reading-you can support your child at home by reading to them and talking about the story and asking questions about what they have read. We will give your child a reading book once a week, this will be changed every Friday please ensure you return the book as you received it. Your child will be given a reading record for you to write in or sign when you have read with your child.

 

In Mathematics this term we will focus on number and calculation skills, counting forward and backwards to 40 and recognising numbers to 20. We will also be learning how to add and subtract one and two digit numbers. In Shape, Space and Measure we will be learning the names and properties of 3D shapes. You can support your child at home by singing number songs and counting with them.

 

 

PE will be on Tuesday every week, please ensure your child has their P.E bag in school for the week and it can be taken home to wash at the weekend. Please make sure your child has the correct P.E kit (named) and suitable footwear. This term in P.E we will be focusing on moving our bodies in a variety of ways to music and listening to and following instructions correctly.

 

Swimming, this will be every Thursday. Please make sure that your child wears their P.E kit on this day. The children will be learning how to swim and developing their skills throughout the sessions.

Autumn  Term Information

Dear Parents,

Welcome to Juniper Class.

Staff you need to know in Juniper class are:

Miss Moffatt: Class Teacher

Mrs Turner: Teaching Assistant

Miss Simpson: Teaching Assistant

This term our topic will be ‘The Gruffalo’, we will be learning to retell the story and use the correct story language. We will also be looking at alternative versions of the text and learning new vocabulary.We will be taking part in a ‘Gruffalo Hunt’ and learning about the world around us.  We will be learning how to be independent learners and settling into our new class.

We will be planning for trips during the next term and there will be more information regarding the trips to follow. We will need parent volunteers, please let us know if you wish to support during the trip.

In Literacy, Language and Communication we will be learning the story of ‘The Gruffalo’. We will be learning how stories are structured as well as learning the correct story language to retell the story and learning new vocabulary. We will be focusing on early Phonics and learning new sounds.

Reading-you can support your child at home by reading to them and talking about the story and asking questions about what they have read. Books will be changed every Friday.

In Mathematics this term we will focus on number and understand the concepts of number. We will also be learning how to count on or back from 0-20. In Shape, Space and Measure we will be learning the names and properties of  2D shapes and learning about size.
