Welcome to Juniper Class
We are so excited to be able to welcome some new children into our school alongside some children who know us well from Acorn Pre-School. The Juniper team look forward to getting to know your child really well this year.
We hope you have had an amazing Summer. Hopefully your little ones are excited to join Oak View Academy and become a part of Juniper class.
In Juniper class we love to have lots of fun, make memories and support your children’s learning in the most exciting ways.
Your child will not need to bring much with them when they start.
Please do bring the following items:
- Water bottle with their name on it
- Full school uniform with every item of school uniform labelled with their name
- Most importantly…a smile!
I have attached our topic grid below along with the areas of learning we will be supporting your child with during their first half term.
As our first topic is ‘All about me’ it would be great if you can send your child in with a family photograph for us to keep in class for the year. We enjoy talking about our families and looking at photographs with our friends, it especially helps any that struggle during their first few days of transition.
Homework: Homework will be handed out on a Friday and must be handed in on the following Monday morning.
Reading: Children will have phonics everyday. They will bring home a reading book on a Monday to read throughout the week with a reading record to be signed by yourselves, this will be handed in on Friday morning. On Friday, all children will be handed a weekend reading book that must be handed in with homework on the following Monday morning. We cannot provide children with a new phonics book until they have handed in their previous book. Phonics books must be handed in on time so we can support your child’s reading.
Please do find time each night to read with your child at home, this supports many other developmental areas for children as well as their progress in reading.
PE: PE will be every Monday and Wednesday morning, children will need their full PE kits. We usually ask parents to bring their child’s PE kit in on a Monday, keep it in school for the week, and take it home on a Friday to be washed over the weekend. This enables us to do more physical activity during the week if we get a chance.
Myself (Miss Latham), Mrs Turner and Mrs Williams are very excited to meet you all!
