A great first week back for Hawthorn Class!
In English, the children have started exploring our new vehicle text ‘FArTHER by Grahame Baker-Smith. They examined a variety of illustrations from the text and began to generate descriptive phrases about the setting.
In Maths, we have been focussing on multiplying 1-digit numbers by 3 and 4-digit numbers using the short written method.
In DT, we have started to think about bags – we discussed all the different kinds of bags there are and what they are used for. We looked at a range of different bags together and identified the materials used, their design features and purposes. We even tested which was the strongest by filling them with as many books as we could – it’s safe to say the paper bag did not last long!
