Elmer – The Colourful Elephant
This week the Acorn Preschool children have explored the world of colour through the story ‘Elmer’ by David McKee. We have continued with a focus on colours – the children have sorted colourful teddies, drawing with coloured chalks, painting and drawing colourful pictures and making colour elephants.
As we continued to explore colour, the Acorns enjoyed watching an experiment which showed them the formation of a rainbow on a plate using skittles. As we watched the rainbow forming, we sang our song from the previous week ‘The Rainbow Song.’ You can find a link on Youtube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nRTdq0VsLGQ) to watch and sing this song with your child at home.
On Friday, the week ended with a wonderful trip to see Rosie the farmer at Weaver Dairy House Farm and to explore the different colours around the farm. Through looking for pictures of Brown Bear from a previous story, the children found the white sheep, pink and black pigs, red tractor, orange chickens and red cows. We were so proud of all the children on this visit, and would like to say a big thank you to the parent helpers that also attended.
Stars of the day this week were: Freya & Florence. Well done for all your hard work and good choices.
