Wow – what a great first week back in Year 5.
In English, we had lots of fun investigating our new book. The children had to use their detective skills to guess where our new story might be set and what it could be about based on a set of mystery objects! The objects were: a globe, a map, a khaki backpack, a compass, a pair of binoculars, some rope, a blanket and a head torch. They guessed correctly and predicted that it would definitely involve some sort of adventure or exploration!
In Maths, we have continued our fractions topic. The children have been finding common denominators in order to add together two unlike fractions. They have even started to simplify their answers when possible.
In topic, we have begun a new unit of work on Cheshire & a contrasting European region. The children used atlases to locate our focus countries and then used their knowledge of the 8 compass points to describe the location of these places.
