Experiments in Hawthorn Class!
Welcome back Hawthorn Class!
I hope you had a lovely half term; it has been so wonderful to see so many of you launch yourselves back into your home- learning.
In Maths, the children have been revisiting place value and showcasing their knowledge of numbers up to 1 000 000. They have been comparing and ordering 5-digit and 6-digit numbers using place value.
In English, the children have really enjoyed discovering our exciting new vehicle text for this term, King Kong by Anthony Browne. Each day, we have read the next part of the story together. They have thought about expanded noun phrases and figurative language to describe the mighty Kong.
At home this week, pupils in Hawthorn Class have become scientists, taking part in lots of fun investigations and challenges all to do with our new topic of ‘forces’. See pictures below of pupils experimenting with gravity and air resistance.
Keep being brilliant Year 5
