This week, Hawthorn Class enjoyed celebrating Children’s Mental Health week. The theme this year was ‘express yourself’ and the children in year 5 did just that. We had lots of discussions about what we enjoy and how we express ourselves, we had a ‘dress to express’ day and the children in school did lots of dancing!
In English, we have explored the features of a newspaper report. We looked at our model text and unpicked why the author had chosen to use specific language and vocabulary. We then had a go at writing an opinion piece, in response to the newspaper report – using lots of exaggerated language!
In Maths, we have been looking at: regular and irregular polygons, investigating different types of triangles and identifying a range of quadrilaterals. The children have worked really hard to recall and build on their shape knowledge.
