Hello Snowy Animals!
The Acorn Preschool children have been excited this week when they found large paw prints and lots of cold climate animals arrived in their classroom.
We have been reading the story ‘Say Hello to the Snowy Animals’. This has introduced them to husky dog, seal, whale, polar bear, puffin and snowy owl and arctic hair. Through talking time, the children have started to extend what they say using ‘because’ and ‘and’.
Through playing with the small world snowy animals, the children have explored different landscapes. A large penguin appeared with its baby on Wednesday which caused lots of excitement – as it had an egg hidden too!
The arrival of the Christmas tree in the home corner added some excitement – as the children decorated the tree with tinsel and baubles. They also started to write their Christmas shopping list, deciding what food they needed over the Christmas holidays.
We have also explored different shapes through drawing round them and continued with playing counting games.
We have spent lots of time this week preparing for the Christmas Play – ‘Whoops-a-Daisy Angel.’ The children have ben so busy learning their words, singing the songs and exploring the hall to perform. They are doing really well, and we can’t wait to show the parents soon.
Stars of the Day this week has been Levi, Lyla, Archie, Caleb and Riley – well done to you all.
