This week Hawthorn class thoroughly enjoyed their class trip to Chester Zoo! The visit began with a fantastic workshop where the class learned about the location of rainforests; explored lots of artefacts from rainforest life and discussed the issues surrounding deforestation. The class then had the opportunity to see the animals in the zoo, on foot and on the monorail. All enjoyed the opportunity to study the behaviour of the animals as well as the information provided about their habitats and diet. I was impressed by your enthusiasm and your conscientious approach to learning – well done.
We have also brought our experiences at the zoo into our English lessons by studying a non-chronological report about elephants. In maths, Hawthorn have been using rounding to check answers and solve a variety of problems. We have continued our exploration of the rainforests in I.T as we learned about the set-up of powerpoint presentations for information about rainforest animals.
