Let’s deep dive into illustrations
This week we have enjoyed looking at the images of our story ‘Little Red’. We have been learning about an artist called Piet Mondrian who is an artist that created his paintings based on scenery. We looked at scenes and illustrations from the story Little Red and re-created them outside using chalk in the style of Piet Mondrian’s work.
We had a very exciting start to our week as we had chicks in the classroom for us to look after as a school. We loved learning about the chicks and can’t wait to watch them grow.
In English this week we have been learning new vocabulary from our Little Red story. Junipers have enjoyed playing bingo, acting out the vocabulary and using our new vocabulary in sentences. Junipers are making amazing progress with their vocabulary and sentence writing.
In Maths we have been learning about odd and even numbers, counting and sequencing numbers from 0-10 and 0-20. Junipers have enjoyed feeding the correct cakes to ‘Odd Todd’ and ‘Even Steven’. We have had lots of fun in maths this week learning a song about odd and even numbers, playing with the characters Odd Todd and Even Steven and creating their own odd and even streets.
I am extremely impressed at how well Junipers are progressing with their phonics, writing and number work. Keep going with all your practise at home, it really is showing!
Have a lovely bank holiday weekend.
Miss Latham and Mrs Curwell.
