Look out it’s a bear!
This week the Acorn Preschool children had to solve the problem of who stole Mrs Alford’s honey and left paw prints behind! They were very quick to decide it could have been a Gruffalo or a bear. After much excitement, the children have then enjoyed a week filled with bear related activities. These have included making bears with moving arms and legs, making bear masks and drawing our own bear prints.
The story of the week was learnt orally and was about a bear, who followed a bee to get to the yummy honey. The story, ‘Take a Walk Little Bear”, has lots of repetitive language and actions to help the children remember the words. We also use a story map which shows pictures to support the children with remembering the events of the story. The children will continue with this story next week, so encourage them to retell it to you at home and see how much they can remember.
Our song of the week was “Ring’o’roses” which the children have enjoyed, especially when they get to fall down to the floor.
On Thursday, the Acorn children were taken on a reward trip with Juniper class, to Stockley Farm Park. They were all very well behaved and were able to show all that they have learnt over the year about farms and farm animals. We also enjoyed the bouncy castle, tractor ride to the giant hay birthday cake and the ice cream was good too!
Stars of the Day this week were Faith & Molly – well done to you both.
