Love for learning!
Sycamore Class have had a very successful and busy week of school. The children have been really driven and focused. The children have shown great determination in their English this week. We have been focusing more on “The Whale” and our vehicle text “Storm Spotting”. The children have shown a great understanding of similes, metaphors and personification and their impact on the readers’ imagination.
In maths this week we have focused on rounding numbers to the nearest 10, 100 and 1000. Despite this being a challenging concept, the children pushed themselves and followed the rules of rounding.
In other areas of the curriculum children have enjoyed a variety of lessons that have been fun and engaging. They have designed and made Roman mosaics out of paper and discovered the history of the art. The children have also explore what the definition of courage means and how we can have courage ourselves in the challenges that we may face.
The children also had a very exciting lesson on Tuesday where they explored computer programming and how to process computational thinking. We started the lesson off with building animals out of Lego and created a flow chart of direct instructions so that someone else could recreate their animal.
Here’s to another successful week!
