Mini Music Makers
Well, this week started off super exciting straight away. We have been learning all about Diwali, the festival of lights. Junipers had so much fun learning lots about Diwali, designing their own Mehndi designs and colouring in their own Rangoli patterns with bright, beautiful colours.
Junipers had so much fun learning about this celebration, so we learnt a dance all about the things that are celebrated during Diwali and how they are celebrated. All of the children in Juniper class loved dancing to music that they described as a “different type of music from what they listen to at home”, “with different instruments”. It was amazing to see them all joining in and dancing to a different style of music, dancing, moving slowly then fast, with lots of movement in their hands. Junipers really enjoyed this dance and have asked to practise it every day this week.
We have also been focussing on our numbers 1-10 as we are learning how to recognise numbers 1-10 quickly and confidently without needing to count each time. Junipers have all been able to choose one item in the classroom to represent a number. They were able to challenge themselves and think of an exciting object to show me, such as dice patterns, numicon, numberblocks, dominoes, shapes with the correct amount of sides and much more.
They have all been working super hard and I am so proud of every one of them!
It has been amazing to hear children having such a positive attitude to their home reading and weekend challenges. It is lovely to read the wonderful feedback in their books each week and hear positive comments children make about the fun they are having with parents as they continue to practise their learning at home.
