Poor Old Fox Has Lost His Socks…
Our love for Fox and his missing Socks in Julia Donaldson’s book ‘Fox’s Socks’ continued this week with many exciting activities planned around the story to enhance the children’s interest in the book, through play.
We went on a colour hunt to find orange objects around our classroom and enjoyed mixing and stirring yellow and red paint to create a vibrant orange colour, which we used to paint our own foxy pictures.
We also used a variety of different media and materials to create our own unique socks. Which we practiced counting together.
By the end of the week the children became very good at being able to retell the story using pictures and props from the story basket.
Our rhyme of the week was ‘Hickory Dickory Dock’ which the children quickly linked to the story.
We spent time outdoors this week practicing our kicking skills, taking turns to kick a ball off a small cone and enjoyed some games of skittles.
Next week we will continue to develop the children’s interest in woodland animals and our new set of Julia Donaldson books in particular by focusing on the story ‘Postman Bear’.
