Read all about it!
Another successful week in Hawthorn Class…
To introduce our new computing unit, ‘News Room’, the children explored how news is communicated and what makes a story newsworthy. The children investigated a selection of local and national newspapers, searching for a range of articles. We were very excited to see Oak View Academy featured in this Wednesday’s Winsford Guardian!
In Maths, the children have been continuing their multiplication topic, practising multiplying 2-digit by 3-digit numbers, using multiple strategies including the grid method and columnar methods.
In English, we have read and enjoyed our new vehicle text ‘FArTHER’ by Grahame Baker-Smith. A story about a young boy who is entranced by his father’s ambition to fly. We have studied several illustrations from the text and generated a bank of vocabulary for which to describe the settings. The children have also created some phrases using alliteration to engage the reader.
