Recreating Roman roads

This week Sycamore class have been learning about the purpose behind Roman roads and their structure. The class were very intrigued and discussed the different layers and why they would be a good material to make a road. We then explored the structure of Roman roads through recreating them in the form of food. We use crushed digestive biscuits for the sand. Malteasers and vanilla icing for the pebbles. Smarties and custard creams as the top stronger layer of the road. Sycamore class have really enjoyed learning about the Romans this term.

The children have also been looking at our new model text in English focusing on diary entries. We have been focusing on how the writer can effect the reader through the choice in vocabulary and techniques used. Next week this class will be writing their very own emotive diary entries.
