This past week has been Science week and Maple Class were treated to a visit from the portable planetarium AND chocolate making! We learnt about the properties of chocolate and they were surprised to learn chocolate actually grows on trees! They enjoyed making chocolate Lollipops and filled holds with chocolate to take home in goodie bags. They also entered the portable planetarium in the hall, where they felt as if they were travelling through space! We learnt about the constellations and even tried to spot some of them in the stars above our heads. Maple Class enjoyed were amazed! What a fantastic way to learn more about our solar system by feeling as if they were right in it.
In English we began innovating our Journey stories and came up with some great ideas for new settings and characters. Maple class have really developed their breadth of new vocabulary and this is coming across in their writing!
In Maths we have continued with work on Money, including finding different combinations of coins to make the same amount and adding prices together. Next week we will continue with finding change, linked to subtraction. Maple Class have impressed me with their knowledge of money this week, great work!
There was no celebration assembly this week due to Science week in the hall and Maple Class are out next week for our residential, which they are very much looking forward to!
