See how our garden grows!
This week the Acorn Preschool continued to focus on the story of ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ as they have shown great interest in the events of the story. They have learnt the main events, and are able to join in with parts of the story to help retell it. They love to bellow ‘Fe Fi Fo Fum’! We have even had sightings of giants chasing Jack, the cow chasing mum and Jack’s mum throwing more beans out of the window!
The children have explored comparing height of beanstalks through a focus task, and used Jack’s magic beans to support them with understanding number through touch counting.
Along the week the children have explored lots of outdoor play. They have been tending to the potatoes, giving them more compost to support them with growing lots more potatoes. The have also been watering the flowers to help them grow too. In the middle of the week, the ‘Acorn workmen’ began their task of repairing the damaged pirate ship – with saws, hammers and drills – they were busy at work fixing all the broken bits!
Song of the Week was ‘1, 2, 3, 4, 5 Once I Caught a Fish Alive’ – which the children were already very familiar with. Alongside this fishy focus, we have explored a new book ‘Hooray For Fish’ by Lucy Cousins. This book is full of interesting words to describe the fish, and has allowed the children to build on their vocabulary and explore speaking in complete sentences to express themselves clearly to the listener.
Stars of the Day this week were Kaiden, Laken and Elizabeth. Well done to you all.
