This week in Juniper class we have been focussing on descriptive language, based on our new book.
We have had discussions about different descriptive words and what they mean. Descriptive language was led from the children’s interests of stars, space and astronauts. Our book for this term is ‘Star in the Jar’ and we have been thinking about descriptive words for stars. We have had some amazing language from the children in juniper class this week when describing stars ‘shiny’, ‘sparkly’, ‘glittery’, ‘beautiful’, ‘special’, ‘lovely’, ‘handsome’, ‘bright’.
We held a circle time where the children could go on a treasure hunt around the room and find something they thought looked special to them. This was lovely to see the children all bring back something completely different from each other. We went round in a circle to use a describing word for their treasure. The children really enjoyed this activity and loved sharing their special thoughts to the class.
