This week the Acorn Preschool have been VERY excited about Halloween, and by Tuesday the classroom had been transformed with spiders webs, pumpkins and witches potions!
The children used their knowledge of the story ‘Where’s Spot?’ to invent their own version ‘Where’s the Pumpkin?’, where they found skeletons, spiders, bats and zombies hiding around the house! Ask them to retell this story to you at home. Or invent your own version at home – searching for a favourite teddy or toy.
To build on our love of pumpkins, the song of the week was ‘1 little, 2 little, 3 little pumpkins’ and the children have also been busy in the creative area and maths area making their own pumpkins and pumpkin patches full of pumpkins.
The Acorn children have developed their fine motor skills by drawing faces on pumpkins and using scissors to cut the lavender from our sensory garden. It smells gorgeous and we have loved wrapping and taking some home for our families. The classroom is filled with it too!
Stars of the day this week were Landon, Ethyn, Lilly, Lewis and Molly – well don’t to you all.
Thank you for all the sponsorship money that has been making its way into school. At this point, we have raised up to £500 – as I know many people are still busy collecting over the holidays, we will give you the grand total once it has all been received.
Mrs Woodall and I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for ‘lending’ us your little ones to have so much fun with each morning in Preschool. We hope that they and their families have a lovely week off together getting up to lots of fun, and we look forward to seeing all the children after the holidays when they can tell us their exciting news.
