Spots, dots and red ladybirds!
This week the little Acorns have been investigating ladybirds a little more closely after showing a keen interest in them during the previous week.
The children enjoyed using bright red playdough to create their own ladybirds adding eyes, spots and legs. We had some fabulous creations!
We painted and printed dots onto paper and card and worked on some beautiful red ladybird inspired collages.
We were blown away with the counting and numerical language and play that was demonstrated throughout the week.
Thank you to our families who also took the time to send in sharing boxes. They were very well received and lots of language was generated as a result. I really appreciate your efforts and look forward to hearing more about your weekends and home life in future boxes.
Our book of the week was ‘Colours with a Ladybird’ which the children soon became familiar with, naming the colours and animals or insects featured on each page. The children were particularly taken with the butterfly and began to notice more of the colours around the setting.
Our Rhyme of the week was ‘Sausages in a Pan’ the children were very enthusiastic with the popping and banging and all the talk of sausages led to lots of lovely roll play in our home corner. We added some real food for the children to explore to this area, which we will continue with next week also.
Our focus story next week will be ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ as we feel in incorporates so much of the play and interests the children demonstrated. We have lots planned to keep these interests going.
It’s going to be a good week and I can’t wait!!
