Spring has arrived with the Acorns
This week the Acorn Preschool children have been learning about the changes that occur with the arrival of Spring. We have noticed that it is starting to get warmer, the sun is beginning to shine, chicks and lambs are being born and blossom and leaves are starting to grow. We have also looked at spring flowers that are starting to grow.
Our book of the week was ‘Chicken Licken’ which has really helped the children develop their sense of rhyming words. Our song of the week was ‘Mary Had a Little Lamb’
Whilst outside we have planted our potatoes as part of the ‘Grow Your Own Potatoes’ project for schools. The children were fantastic gardeners, helping to transfer the compost into the growing bags, planting the starter potatoes into the compost and covering it over to protect them. We can’t wait to watch them grow!
The Acorn children are really enjoying playing with the wooden blocks at the moment. Daily, they are working together to create some wonderful and amazing structures which is great for building relationships between children. This also supports the children with developing their communication, imagination and problem solving skills, working out how to ensure the model will remain stable and balanced.
The children have also been extremely busy preparing special secrets for their mothers in preparation for Mothers’ Day. More will be revealed soon!
Stars of the day this week were Jack & Riley – well done to you both.
