The snow arrives and Acorns love to play
This week the Acorn Preschool children were so happy to return back into the building after a period of closure due to self-isolation of staff. From Tuesday, the fun resumed and the children settled back in as though they had never been away!
We have developed our large motor skills whilst also working on our sharing and turning taking skills by taking the bikes and trikes out onto the large playground. The children also freely explored climbing on the tyres, climbing on the frame and riding down the hill.
The story of the week, continuing on our theme of cold weather – linked with how we can keep ourselves warm when it is cold, we have enjoyed ‘The Enormous Turnip.’ For some children, the language in this story encouraged lots of role play activities – including trying to ‘pull’ the door open so that we could rescue the ‘people’ on the other side!
With the arrival of snow, came many more opportunities to explore the cold weather and the fun that can be had! Sledging, snowball fights and snow angels.
Children who are currently not learning in the setting, are also exploring lots more about The Enormous Turnip, pushes and pulls and cold weather whilst learning from home.
Stars of the Day this week were: Faith, Archie and Daisy – well done to you all.
