Tip Tip Dig Dig…
This week the Little Acorns have been enjoying hearing and reading the story Tip Tip Dig Dig by Emma Garcia.
To enhance the children’s interest in this story we set up various play and exploration activities and spaces within the settings using small world construction vehicles and toys along side sensory experiences such as flour, rainbow rice, water and play dough.
We also began to learn a new rhyme about construction vehicles –
(To the tune of Mary had a little lamb.)
Excavator digs a hole, digs a hole, digs a hole.
Excavator digs a hole. Dig, dig, dig, dig digggg.
The big crane stretches out its arm, out it’s arm, out it’s arm.
The big crane stretches out it’s arm, stretch, stretch, stretch, stretch, stretchhhh.
Cement mixer spins around, spins around, spins around.
Cement mixer spins around, spin, spin, spin, spin, spiiiiiin.
We will continue to practice the song next week, why not have a go at practicing it home with your little one too!
