Tip,Tip, Dig, Dig…
Little Acorns are currently enthralled with all things construction and have been particularly captivated by the book Tip, Tip, Dig, Dig by Emma Garcia.
This is a book that a few of our older children a very familiar with so it was fantastic for them to revisit a story they are so found of and to introduce the book to the youngest members of our class. The children were were able to repeat some of the phrases used in and join in with some actions alongside the phrases.
From this the children based much of their play around construction and as you can see from the photos got fully emerged in this play.
Blocks were used to create some beautiful prints in paint and some amazing structures were built both indoors and out and of course our trusty construction vehicles and play tools were ever present, leading to lots of fabulous imaginative play.
We will continue to develop play around this topic over the forthcoming week as the children are still so clearly engaged this play.
We’d love to hear what you’ve been up to over the weekend so any sharing boxes would be happily received and shared throughout the week also.
Please continue to keep sending and dressing your child in very warm, weather appropriate clothing (that you don’t mind getting messy!) As we will continue to spend much of our time outdoors and with classroom very well ventilated – We don’t let a bit of cold weather spoil our fun!
