Up, up and away!
Willow have had a wonderful few weeks since becoming juniors. The children have impressed me with their creative talents in writing. We took a boat trip down the river Weaver and went up one of only two boat lifts in the world at the Anderton Boat lift. The children got to learn about rivers as part of our Geography topic but also gained valuable real-life experience for our journey story down a river. In English we have shared some amazing and creative ideas for settings. We looked at settings with different atmospheres, peaceful and gloomy and what words would best engage the reader. We are coming to the end of the unit and the children are fully prepared for writing an independent story this week.
In maths we have started off with the basics of place value and working our way slowly towards adding two 3 – digit numbers, the children have had lots of opportunities to work practically in order to secure their understanding.
Tomorrow Willow will be joining Sycamore class on a trip across the Welsh border to the Techniquest in Wrexham to learn how to programme as part of their computing learning. Speaking of computing, the children have stuck in a special log in on the cover of their homework books this week for Times Table Rockstars (ttrockstars.com) please log in and practise and any opportunity!
