Welcome back Little Acorns…
After a lovely half term break it was wonderful to see the smiling faces of our little Acorns on Monday morning. And welcome some new happy faces into the setting.
We took some time to settle back in to nursery life and let our new starters explore the space and resources. We practiced singing some of our more familiar nursery rhymes throughout the week ,that we had learnt during the previous term – Twinkle twinkle little star, Wheels on the bus and Baa baa black sheep.
The children were also very keen to get their hands on some new books that had been purchased for our classroom. The Acorn Wood collection by Julia Donaldson are proving to be a firm favourites with the children showing a particular interest in ‘Fox’s Socks’.
We followed this interest by providing the children with resources to create their own socks using a variety of media and will continue with the theme next week whilst the children are still showing such a strong interest.
We tried some pancakes during snack time on Tuesday and had a go at making our own in the role play area. Some excellent flipping was observed!
Our ball skills were put into practice in the outdoor area. With the children practicing kicking, throwing and catching with a variety of different sized and weighted balls.
A great first week back, well done Little Acorns!
