This week most of Willow class enjoyed a residential trip to York! We explored the city of Eboracum – Roman York – through not only visiting the Yorkshire museum and partaking in workshops, but also through walking the walls. The children learnt that Eboracum stood almost 2000 years ago and that the city had citizens and slaves. They explored the different roles and the fact that citizens weren’t necessarily wealthy but often had jobs or owned land. Not only did they have the opportunity to explore Rome but we also looked at history before and after Rome as the museum was full of artefacts from the past, including from the Viking period to the medieval period. Lastly, whilst we are in York we also went to visit the famous York Minster cathedral, the children were wowed at it’s size!
